Flying In

Quick Links

Detailed arrival procedures for Airweek can be found on the Downloads page.

Try to get there before mid-day on Friday. There are airshow rating demonstrations on Friday morning and an EAA display on Friday afternoon. These may cause delays.

Wonderboom is controlled airspace and will be closed from 08:30z until 13:30z on 1 May (Saturday) due to the airshow.

Helicopters are to land at the helicopter refuelling pad and then move to the adjacent grassed area for parking.

Fees for flying in

There is no charge for brining an aircraft to airweek, but all people on board should be EAA members. If non-members want to fly in, they'll have to purchase tickets to get in to the event itself. Unfortunately camping is only for EAA members (this is for security reasons in order to protect the aircraft from the general public). There is family membership available at R10/person.

Microlights

We'd like plenty of microlights to attend this year. As with previous airshows, we'll be operating a seperate runway for microlights (350m long grass undershoot of runway 06). The microlight circuit will be seperated from the "blik" aeroplanes the same way it was done at the Potchefstroom event. Microlights get parking with the "blik" airies with a small bowser for mogas. Camping facilities will be available at the parachute club where you'll be able to take your aircraft to do some camping with you.

MISASA members flying in will be issued with temporary EAA membership at R50 per person to enable them to access both the airshow and their secured parking/camping area for the 3 days of the show. Please note that there will be no facilities at the show for issuing of temporary membership cards, so application must be made prior to the show. Application can be made online through this web site.
