Basic Regulations for EAA AirWeek "Aircraft Judging Competition" Entrants

  1. Event: EAA AirWeek to be held at Wonderboom Airport, Pretoria, from Friday 29th. April 2005 until Monday 2nd. May 2005.
  2. Organisers: EAA of South Africa. www.eaa.org.za
  3. Eligibility of Entrants: All Homebuilders & Restorers who are categorised clearly on the accompanying “Form A”. Please note that the two main streams are “Homebuilt” and “Non-Homebuilt” as evident on this form.
  4. Classification of Entrants: As per “Form A”.
  5. Duties & Requirements of Entrants:
    1. Where possible, entries on “Form A” should be faxed to the number on the web site. (We are planning to direct all entrants to an “Entrants Only” restricted-area in a prominent position, so early entrants will be ensured of this parking).
    2. Please ensure accuracy when filling in the Entry “Form A”, especially in the areas of “Builders/restorers & % of build”. Also “Previous Awards”.
    3. Read through the two “Checklist” areas on “Form A” and ensure compliance. (Details of these can be seen on Pages 41 to 44 of the EAA Judging Manual on website).
    4. You will also be required to produce your current Aero-Club and EAA Membership Cards. A R50 entry & judging fee is applicable to non-EAA members. Should you wish take this opportunity of joining the EAA, a members' stand will be available within the EAA tent at the Airshow.
    5. On arrival, all pilots will be asked if they are “entrants” or “non-entrants” by the parking Marshals. After being ushered to their correct parking, entrants are then requested to report immediately to the EAA tent to hand in their completed “Form A” (or to ensure that their previously faxed entry is on file). They will then be given a “Judge Me” tag which is to be affixed to the propeller of his/her aircraft. They will also receive all “Final Regulations” which will contain any alterations to this “expected” timetable. (See 7).
  6. Timetable of Events:
    1. Friday 29th: April is generally regarded as a day of arrival of individual aircraft.
      • Aircraft judging 14.00 to 17.00
    2. Saturday 30th. April.
      • 08.00 to 12.00: Aircraft Judging. Note; These will be the ONLY judging period.
      • 13.00: The Chief Judge will present a list of their first 3 nominations in each Category to the Show director.
      • 13.30: A list of these first 3 nominations per category will be posted at the EAA tent
      • 14.00: Pilots briefing of all nominated aircraft.
      • 14.30 Onwards: Nominated Aircraft to do “flypasts” as per pilots briefing.
    3. Sunday 1st. May: Awards Ceremony with final placings of the 3 nominated aircraft per category. (Time to be announced in “Final Regulations”). Evening Braai for all pilots/participants.
    4. Monday 2nd.May: Departure day (Public Holiday).

  8. Final Regulations: As stated in (5. e. above), these regulations will contain any alterations to the expected timetables contained herein, also any additional information needed to ensure a well-run and co-ordinated event. The entrant is expected to read these “Final Regulations” on receipt.
