Every year at Airweek we arrange what some have called Technical Forums. They are opportunities for members and interested parties to learn about topics related to aviation. Things like aspects of sheetmetal work, fabric covering demonstrations, automotive engine conversions, aircraft instrumentation, flight medicine issues, legal issues, etc. They generally last about 45 minutes to 1 hour each, depending on the presenter and interest / questions from the floor.
This year the forums will be held on the Sunday ONLY (EAA day), in the hangar on the opposite side of the Wonderboom Terminal car park from the terminal - the hangar used to have signeage calling it Republic Air Parts, but it's now part of Naturelink.
The programme (subject to change without notice) is:
- 11:00 What Design should I build?
- 12:00 Fabric Covering Discussion & Demonstration by Peter How
- 14:00 Development of the Whisper Motorglider (hopefully by the designer, Russell Phillips)
- 15:00 Registration of Non Type Certified Aircraft by Steve Boshoff
Russell Dold
