Something different

Press Release for coming EAA 2006 Air Show

One of the problems facing Air show organizers is how to keep the mothers and daughters interested and occupied whilst Dad and the boys go off and goggle the aeroplanes and watch the flying displays. This matter has been addressed in no uncertain way. Whoever heard of a mannequin presentation at an air-show?? Well that’s exactly what is being planned! Tshwane City Council has agreed to sponsor a fabulous International Mannequin at the airport whilst the Air Show is on!!

Ladies and girls will be able to enjoy a really high-class show in an aircraft hangar (specially converted) the cost of which is included in your normal entrance fee!!

We suspect that many of the dads will be sneaking in too!

The usual excellent array of caterers will be on the field and visitors can be sure of a wide selection of food.

The flying display will be quite different to anything ever seen in South Africa before. The EAA management have planned a wonderful show of pantomimes and flying skills to entertain even the most casual spectator. Flour bombing on targets right in front of the spectator fence and real ‘plane controlled by radio from a truck-top are but a few of the most amazing spectacles you can expect to see.

Gyrating Jeffrey, the sharp-shot Cowboy with his six-gun in a vintage Tiger Moth will endeavour to shoot balloons whilst flying low past the crowd.

A cameo of the 1920's where gentlemen and scallywags vie for the hand of a fair maiden in a kaleidoscope of bad flying, bombs and jilted boyfriends will undoubtedly be one of the leading attractions.

Along with all this will be the "first time Flyers"? where new and unknown 'planes of many types will be there for viewing and enjoyment. A truly startling performance by the new Bantam micro light will have the crowd on its feet when it displays its incredible short-field and wide speed range. Airfields will be obsolete soon!! And many, many more.

This will be two really great days for the whole family and a happy time full of belly-laughs. Bring your chairs and picnic. Make a family day of it!
