Good News. There is still a little time and a few seats available for our next Talk Show on next Thursday the 14th of May 2009.
You may recall that we had previously booked some guests from the South Africa Police Airwing and the show was cancelled at the last minute because the “main manne what counts”, at the top of the heap, had not yet given permission for their appearance.
Now the long awaited permission has arrived and so we will hear and see Senior Superintendent Brian Norden (Commander of Wonderboom Airwing) and one of the colleagues Superintendent Marius Maartens as our guests.
To top it all we have one of our favourite previous guests, Horace Blok of Pelican 16 fame, to Host the show for us.
This should be very interesting because Brian and Horace both started out as navigators in the SAAF in the same year, 1968 together with General Carlo Gagiano.
During his career Brian Norden has flown many types including DC 3’s, DC4’s, C130 Hercs, C160 Transalls, Beech Jets, Citations, Learjets, Pilatus PC12s, and of course the amazing PC 6s. We will also hear of his exciting adventures during the time that SAAF was seconded to Rhodesia, Angola and Mozambique.
Marius Maartens also started out in the SAAF, flying Oryx and Allouette choppers as well as the Pilatus PC 7’s. Now that he is in the Police Airwing he flies the MBB type helicopters such as the BK117, the BO 105, the Huey 500 and the Squirrel AF 350 B3. His life is in danger on a daily basis for the benefit of us as the general public.
