Rustenburg Sun 'n Fun 2007

This is an old news item which is no longer current. It is kept here for historical purposes.

EAA Sun 'n Fun 2007 This note is a reminder for the EAA/Rustenburg Flying Club Sun `n
Fun Fly-In which takes place on 28-30 September at Rustenburg. The fly-in is not a commercial venture and is essentially a fun event for aviation minded folk to have a pleasant destination to fly to where they can show off their airplanes and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow pilots, home builders and other aviation enthusiasts.

Ricardo Afonso and Frank Pain will be the ATC’s on duty on the day and both have a wealth of experience at mass gatherings of light aircraft. The purpose of the ATC service is to make it safe – please don’t be intimidated! Both ATC’s are decent guys with your best interests at heart. The joining procedure can be found at the bottom of this page. As the Sun `n Fun event is not an airshow, NO AEROBATICS may take place without prior individual permission from CAMU or CAA of South Africa. Mr. Neil Thomas from CAA has threatened pilot license suspension for any infringements of this rule.

Should you operate a flying school, a cross country for your students to a busy airfield is invaluable experience and as all pilots know, a flight to a worthwhile destination gives your flight purpose. Fly in with a gaggle of your friends!

There are competitions and fun flying events planned hopefully with prizes galore. The prize giving will take place on Saturday evening in the Rustenburg Flying Club clubhouse. We have been promised that the camping facilities will be upgraded and catering made available for all visitors. B&B as well as hotel accommodation is available nearby.
