I have to tell you that we only have 47 seats left and only 7 days for you to get your name in for our next Talk Show hosted by Karl Jensen.
Dave Mortimer is chairman of SSSA (the Soaring Society of South Africa) since 2000, which has approximately 600 members. The World Gliding Champion ships were held in South Africa in 2001. Dave was involved with famous glider designer and builder of world beating gliders Pat Beatty, and has fascinating tales to tell. Many of these tales Dave related to an enthralled audience at the Royal Air Force Officers’ Club lunch last Friday.
Dave Dwyer is a SAAF trained helicopter pilot who is now carrying out oil industry support flying in Nigeria. Prior to this position, he worked as a ‘Swamp Fly’ in the Sudan. This harrowing and very specialised flying will be the topic of our interview with this charming man.
A bonus guest will be Stuart Ratcliffe, long time air traffic controller and presently ATNS Head of Central Airspace Management Unit (CAMU). Stuart has been involved with the EAA in various guises, but notably headed ATC at the EAA Margate gatherings for 14 years. ATNS will be holding a National Safety Week in September to heighten our awareness to changing ATC rules in relation to VFR and Special VFR flights. Our interview with Stuart will be an excellent prelude to this subject which will affect us all.
