Approved Persons

The AP list and other news and hepenings to do with Approved persons.

What's an AP?
Well, according to Part 24 (which replaced the LS1 document), "approved person" means a natural person, approved in terms of Part 66 of the CAR of 1997, to carry out inspections on non-type certificated aircraft in compliance with the relevant Aircraft Maintenance Schedule approved for the particular aircraft;

If you're building an aircraft, you'll need one to regularly carry out these inspections for you.

For that reason we've put the AP list on this page so that you'll always have access to an up to date version.

There is a draft ARO document relating to the Technical Committee/Approved Persons scheme which has been under review and debate for a while now. The process has been driven primarily through Aero Club, and through the efforts of JJ Gertenbach. A vote of thanks to JJG for the many man hours he has put in on behalf of the homebuilder fraternity.

There are too many people in the EAA to name, who have had input into this document and the process over the years, so all we can do is thank them for the time and effort they have put in on behalf of the EAA.

Should you have any questions regarding the document, please contact Pierre van der Walt who is the EAA appointed Technical Representative for EAA on the Technical Committee.
