This aircraft was manufactured in July 1948. The aerie spent ±40 years working in Transvaal as a farm bakkie, transporting fence poles, rolls of wire, cattle feed and other bits.
From there she was sold and subsequently abandoned at Cato Ridge for many years, where I bought her at a public auction in Aug 2001 (spent our swimming pool money)
We took her home and stripped her down to every last nut and bolt while still enthusiastic about it. From there it's the usual late nights and weekends I think all builders know.
The first start was difficult mainly because I've never prop started a plane before.
I managed to track the original owner, who has subsequently retired to the coast, only 2km from my house. He helped me with priming, carb setting and she now starts like a bird.
