It’s Tuesday – finally after 4 years of telling all who visited the hanger, “She will fly on Tuesday”, ZU-AVP took perfectly to the African sky on Saturday, 2nd July 2005!
My PA17-204 Vagabond, originally manufactured in June 1948, was abandoned in a bush hanger with very little is known about her previous life. She was taken home, completely stripped and fully restored using original drawings. I received tons of help and advice from fellow members of Durban EAA 645 and specific guidance from friends, Bob Ilsly and Tony Nowak. The only deviation from the original 6 Classic Steam Gauges, is the addition of a radio and intercom. My little Vag flies and handles just perfectly.
